What is it made of - why
does it work?
Our
Aluminized Glass Fabric neither burns nor supports combustion and
offers a combination of properties including reflection of 95% of the
radiant heat, high abrasive strength, and reduction of high-angle areas
for burning embers to lodge. See
Test Data Fire Shields cover attic vents,
windows, decks, and eaves protecting them from radiant heat and ember
attack. They can be left up for days or weeks and can be used again and
again for future fire threats. No matter how long the fire takes to
reach you, your shields will be ready. It is a stable material
that will not stretch or shrink, even after exposure to extremely high
or low temperatures. It is also resistant to most acids, alkalis &
solvents with the exception of hydrofluoric acid. A 750 Sq Ft roll stores in a space 60" L X 8" W X 8"
H.
If I decide to cover just my roof will
that help?
Absolutely. Especially if your home is made of wood or if you have
shake shingles. Firezat recommends you wrap your entire home when
possible but each shield will reduce the area you need to defend if you
are staying. Firezat Fire Shields are used by people and agencies in
California, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, Florida, and Australia to
protect their roofs from burning embers and radiant hear each year.
Our home is irreplaceable, can we get a
custom cover made just for it?
Yes, Firezat can actually take measurements off your blueprints and
build a custom Fire Shield for your home. Then you will always have it
when you need it. Call for a custom quote or contact us with our contact
page.
How does a Firezat Fire Shield compare
to foam or gels?
Gel and foams can be a big help
but they have limitations. When applied by fire professionals just
before fire arrival they can be effective. They have the proper pumps,
water supply, pressure, and experience to lay down a heavy coat. Most
importantly they have access to the property shortly before the fire
approaches. Foams hold extra water suspended in bubbles, but under
wildfire conditions of wind, heat, and low humidity their effective
window is just a few hours at best, after all these are perfect
conditions for evaporation. Foams will not protect attic vents or large
windows once the foam has dried. If the fire stalls or turns delaying
arrival, your foam might be ineffective. While it can be re-hydrated
once, with evacuations, road blocks, and municipal water demands it may
be impossible to do. And once it's used you must purchase more for
additional fire threats.
I'm a fireman, can our fire department
buy these?
Yes, we sell to many different government agencies and we offer special
government pricing programs. Contact
us for more information. Firezat Fire Shields or, cabin wrap, are
used to protect our nations most valuable historical landmarks by the
Forest Service, BLM, Park Service, and Incident Management Teams
deployed to protect us from wildfires.
Are these Fire Shields re-useable?
Yes. Firezat Fire Shields are very durable and will resist abrasion and
tearing during use. When the fire threat has passed they can be rolled
and stored for many more uses. The estimated life of a Fire Shield for
homeowners is 10 to 12 years with annual deployment.
What is the material rated to cover?
The special Aluminized laminate reflects up to 95% of the radiant heat
and the glass backing is rated with a service temperature to withstand
up to 1100° Fahrenheit, 550° C. Our Acrylic adhesive has a
service temperature rating of 536° Fahrenheit or 280°
Centigrade. Combined they give you the extra protection that could save
your home in a fire event. Service Temperature is defined as: The
temperature, which a finish or material is able to withstand for an
extended period of time, or number of cycles without degradation.
My home faces a canyon with fire fuel on
one side, what should I do?
We always recommend covering as much of the home as possible. At
minimum we would suggest you cover the entire roof with enough material
to overlap the eaves and fix to the house walls. For maximum protection
also secure enough material to cover the walls facing the canyons. Fire
will actually increase in speed and intensity as it climbs a canyon
hill. Later on you can secure more shields to cover the rest of the
house. Remember your Fire Shields will last for many years and can be
passed on if you sell the home to the new buyers.
Is it guaranteed to save my house?
No. Firezat makes no claims or guarantees that the use of this product
can or will prevent damage or combustion to your property or structure.
Due to the extreme conditions, high heat, high winds, low humidity, and
unpredictability associated with all fires it is impossible to make
such guarantees. We do believe it is an effective strategy to help
protect your home from wildfires.
What is the guarantee?
Firezat shall replace any Fire Shields found to be defective within one
year from the date of purchase. In addition we offer a 100% conditional
guarantee of your purchase price if you use a Fire Shield and your home
is declared a total loss. See our guarantee for details.
How long does it take to deploy over my
house?
Once you spread the shields out
you quickly see that using a 750 Sq Ft piece of material quickly covers
large areas. There is no one way to wrap all houses but it's easier
than you might think. If you are covering the roof just start at the
top and work down. Most structures can be covered in less than a couple
hours by 2 or 3 people. Most of the time is used securing the shields
for optimum wind resistance.
To
cover the roof, just take a roll to the roof and unroll it. Position it
where you want it and place sandbags or weights on it to hold it in
place. Secure it with the Shield Bands for maximum strength and
protection.
To cover the walls unroll a shield at one corner of the house. Using a
staple gun tack one end under the eave and work around the house using
a step ladder. Place sandbags or weights on the bottom or use staples
or Shields Bands for maximum strength and wind
resistance.
How much does it weigh?
Firezat Fire Shields weigh approximately 8 oz's to 1 lb per square
yard. A 15 foot by 50 foot, 750 Sq Ft,
shield weighs approximately 50 to 80 Lbs for shipping depending on your
choice of heavy duty or light duty Shields. When working with the
shields you unroll them and one person can easily move an entire shield
with a simple fluff move. Like spreading a sheet on the bed, an air
cushion forms under the shield allowing it to be moved with surprising
ease.
How do I store the House Cover Fire
Shields?
You can store your house cover where ever it is convenient. The
material will resist mold and mildew, acids and alkali's.
How do you ship it and how long does
it take?

fire season inventory will frequently be out of stock. All orders are
filled on a first come, first served basis. Firezat is not responsible

while determining shipping options. Truck freight will generally take 7
business days but sometimes may arrive sooner. In rush situations we
can offer over night shipping when your product is in stock. Orders
must be received before 11 AM Pacific Standard Time to ship that day.
How do you determine the
shipping expense?
When you place your order you will receive an estimate of shipping cost
depending on how soon you want your products delivered.
Why is the restocking fee
30%?
Due to the extremely high demand during a fire event Firezat will
sometimes enter an out of stock situation and we are unable to fill all
orders for customers who need our protection. Some customers may order
and if they don’t need the product want to return it for a small
fee minus shipping and handling. In the meantime Firezat was unable to
fill orders for others who might have used the products and saved their
homes. We feel this is the best way to service all our customers fairly.
When there is a fire and a high
demand how do you decide which orders to fill?
All orders are filled on a first come first serve basis. An order is
considered an order when it has cleared processing and is ready to be
shipped. Internet orders dated before phone orders are considered first
in line.
